Next month's EU Referendum is on course to become the biggest political betting event ever, according to bookmakers William Hill.
William Hill say that 63% of all bets they have taken on the outcome of the EU Referendum have been for the 'Leave' option – but 72% of all the money staked has been for the 'Remain' option.
William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe told BetOnPolitics.co.uk: "The Scottish Referendum became our biggest ever political betting event with over £3 million gambled on the outcome – and we are optimistic that the EU Referendum will top that.
"However, it is also very possible that the US Election could outdo both, particularly if we end up with a high profile Clinton-Trump showdown.'
William Hill currently offer 3/10 that the outcome will be a 'Remain' majority; and 12/5 for a 'Leave' outcome.
Hill's are also betting on what the voting turnout will be, and offer 4/9 for Under 68%; 13/8 68% or more.
