Punters appear to be cooling on Donald Trump to win today's US Election as Hillary Clinton remains the huge odds-on favourite in the race to the White House.

As recently as Thursday night, one bookmaker had shortened Mr Trump's odds to win the US Presidential Election for the ninth time in a fortnight.

But following Sunday's news that the FBI have found no evidence of criminality in Ms Clinton's emails, her odds of becoming President have been rapidly cut from 1/4 (representing a 80% chance of winning the election) to 1/5 (83% chance) by William Hill.

The development saw William Hill lengthen Trump's odds from 11/4 to 10/3, representing a 23% chance of winning the race to the White House. Before the weekend he had been no better than 7/4 (36%) to become the next POTUS.

Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe told BetOnPolitics.co.uk: "The news has sparked a run of bets for Hillary, so we have taken rapid evasive action in case the heavy hitters come in to place more five and six figure bets like the ones we already have for her to win, which include bets of €550,000; £183,200; £50,000 and a couple of £30,000 wagers."

Overall, since US Election betting began, William Hill say 70% of all money staked on the US Presidential Election outcome has been for Clinton, with two thirds of individual bets for Trump.
