It's 'Super Tuesday' and Hillary Clinton is the 8/13 favourite at time of writing to become the next US President, ahead of Donald Trump who can be backed at a best price 9/4.

William Hill on Tuesday morning reported strong support for the Democrats to emerge as the successful party, cutting the odds on that happening from 8/11 to 8/15.

Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe told BetOnPolitics.co.uk: "We've noticed a sudden, significant shift away from clients backing individuals to backing parties - and the majority doing so have been backing the Democrats.

"Of the bets placed with us during 2016 on the outcome of the election, 63% have been for the Democrats to win, 25% for the Republicans and 12% for an independent candidate to win. It seems that many political punters can't believe that the Republicans can win if they nominate Mr Trump."

Earlier, Ladbrokes reacted to Trump's recent win in Nevada by cutting his price into 4/9 (from 4/6) to be the Republican nominee, leaving it a 3/1 shot he usurps odds-on favourite Clinton (8/11) and enters the White House.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "Trump's on a roll and heading into Super Tuesday he's looking home and hosed. Even the poorly educated can probably work out that he's favourite with the bookies."
