Today's the day, and as America prepares to vote in the US Election, punters appear to be cooling on Donald Trump to win the race to the White House, with money again coming in for current odds-on favourite Hillary Clinton.

The United States goes to the polls today (Tuesday) and at time of writing, bookmaker bet365 make Ms Clinton 2/9 favourite in their Next US President betting market, with Trump on Monday morning out to 7/2 with the same firm.

Last week, as the Clinton campaign was rocked by an FBI investigation into her use of a private email server, Mr Trump had seen his odds shorten, and his chances of becoming the next US president increase in recent days.

But following Sunday's news that the FBI have found no evidence of criminality in Clinton's emails, her odds of becoming President have been rapidly cut by bookmakers, with Trump drifting for the third day in a row as a result.

On Sunday night, Clinton's odds were shortened from 1/4 (representing a 80% chance of winning the election) to 1/5 (83% chance) by William Hill, while the FBI development saw the same firm lengthen Trump's odds from 11/4 to 10/3, representing a 23% chance of winning the race to the White House.

Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe told BetOnPolitics.co.uk: "The news has sparked a run of bets for Hillary, so we have taken rapid evasive action in case the heavy hitters come in to place more five and six figure bets like the ones we already have for her to win, which include bets of €550,000; £183,200; £50,000 and a couple of £30,000 wagers."

Overall, since US Election betting began, William Hill say 70% of all money staked on the US Presidential Election outcome has been for Clinton, but two thirds of individual bets have been backing Trump.

"The odds are now mirroring the betting at the same stage for Brexit, and some political punters are clearly gambling that the recent trend of shock political results - the Conservatives winning the General Election with an overall majority; Jeremy Corbyn landing 200/1 odds in the Labour leader contest, and Brexit winning the Referendum - is going to continue," Sharpe had told us."

The Trump campaign had last week been boosted by poll results and US Election poll trackers which suggested the gap between the two rivals was closing - something which he has been keen to point out on social media.

The expert who has accurately predicted the winner of every US Presidential election since 1984 has given the Trump camp a boost by predicting that the businessman and television producer will be the next President of the United States, while political punters stand to win millions should the 70-year-old win the race to the White House.

One British punter alone will be £100,000 better off if Trump wins next week.

British businessman John Mappin has placed a series of THIRTY bets backing Trump to win the race to the White House.

As previously reported, the Cornish businessman has been backing Trump to pull off a shock victory ever since he was a 33/1 outsider, and the combined pay out from his 30 bets on him both winning the Republican nomination, then the Presidency, has now reached £100,000.

Sharpe told us last month: "Mr Mappin nailed his colours to the Trump mast in July 2015 when he was very much an outsider, and has been backing him regularly since. He has staked some £15,000 so far and stands to receive £100,000 should he be proved correct."
