William Hill say they have already taken more money on the US Election than the General Election.

The bookmaker has already taken over £2.5million on the outcome of next week's Presidential Election.

With five days to go until the US Election, Hillary Clinton remains the odds-on favourite to beat Donald Trump in the race to the White House.

But William Hill, who earlier this week shortened Trump's odds to win the US Election for the eighth time in a fortnight, say they face a "hefty" payout if the businessman becomes the next President of the United States.

Earlier this week, two first-time customers at a William Hill branch in South London placed bets of £7,000 and £4,000 respectively on Trump, telling staff that they thought the current furore over Clinton's emails would cost her the Presidency.

Hill's say two of their customers are in line to win €770,000 and £205,916 should Ms Clinton become POTUS, but company spokesman Graham Sharpe told BetOnPolitics.co.uk: "Although the two biggest bets of all so far struck on the outcome of the US Election are both for Hillary Clinton, some 70% of all of the individual bets placed have been on a Trump win - and as his odds have consistently been longer, once as long as 150/1, he will be much the worse outcome for us.

"The difference between a Clinton and a Trump win currently stands at around a third of a million pounds and recent days have seen the imbalance between the two widening."
